Chase 5/24 rule checker

Count the personal cards you’ve opened in the last 24 months, then see what issuers actually say about who gets a bonus.

What is the Chase 5/24 rule?

Short answer: “5/24” is the widely reported pattern that Chase usually declines a new card application if you have opened five or more personal credit cards, from any bank, in the past 24 months. Chase does not publish it as a policy, so treat it as reported, not official.

What Chase does publish on its card pages is below: it may consider “the number of cards you have opened and closed” when deciding bonus eligibility. Chase can change how it decides at any time.

Does a business card count toward 5/24?

Applicants widely report that most business cards (including Chase’s own) are not added to the count, while authorized-user cards on someone else’s account often are. Neither is confirmed by Chase.
